Coming this November, we’re proud to announce a new range of Wholesale Jewellery: 925 sterling silver. Here’s all you need to know…
What is sterling silver?
Silver has been a popular metal for jewellers for hundreds, if not thousands, of years, but it’s impossible to use the pure material in crafts, as it’s too soft. Instead, silversmiths must mix it with other metals, such as copper, to create an alloy. Sterling silver, which is an alloy, usually carries the ‘925’ hallmark imprint, demonstrating it’s made from 92.5% silver and 7.5% other materials. If your piece of jewellery weighs less than 7.78 grams, it’s probably too small to fit that little stamp on, so it might not have a hallmark, but it can still be sterling silver.
How can sterling silver jewellery work for your business?
This type of metal is very affordable as well as versatile, so it’s cost-effective for your brand. If you buy wholesale sterling silver jewellery you’ll get an even better price, and you can pass on those savings to your customers and beat your local competitors too. Silver works well with many different colours, but some of our favourites at Vicki Jane Jewellery are turquoise, royal blue and purple. If you sell items in these colours, they’ll really pop when paired with silver accessories. You could also make an impact promoting it at Christmas, as silver is such a festive colour and will really shine against a little black dress at any Christmas party.
How should you protect silver jewellery?
You might want to buy a silver cleaning cloth (these are widely available) to keep each piece freshly polished. You could also consider selling the cloths to customers so they can care for their jewellery at home. Advise them to keep their purchase away from strong chemicals, so that means applying perfume or make-up long before putting that necklace or ring on! Also try to remove jewellery before swimming, sunbathing and using harsh cleaning products. All it needs is a little TLC and any woman can incorporate a touch of silver into her wardrobe.
