With 2016 beginning to warm up, there are some jewellery styles that have caught the Vicki Jane Jewellery team’s eye and look set to take off in the summer months. Here we look at five consumer jewellery trends that you can expect to hit the streets when the summer is in full swing.
1. Layered gold pieces
The current price of gold means many pieces are becoming more affordable. Look out for pendant necklaces and charm bracelets in gold experiencing a revival as women look to the warmer metals increasingly as an alternative to silver, thanks to a fluctuation in price.
2. Stacking rings
Like summer itself, stacking rings can be a lot of fun, and there are a wider range of styles than ever before in 2016. Cute and casual, stacking rings offer a number of different ways to combine metals, and their simple and cool nature appeal to a wide range of customers.
3. What goes with grey
Grey is being tipped by many fashion experts to be one of the hues of summer 2016, and so jewellers should look to cash in by offering pieces which lend themselves to colour blocking, namely made from silver, white gold and platinum.
4. Oversized earrings
Any jewellery trend that is in evidence at the fashion-shaping Oscars award ceremony is bound to be a hit. Oversized earrings complement many summer looks and are starting to spring up all over the place. In summer 2016, oversized earrings will prove that ‘bold is beautiful’.
5. Jewellery goes ethical
Ethically sourced jewellery looks set to continue its rise in popularity, thanks to pioneers such as Chopard and Stephen Webster, who have campaigned for ‘fair mined’ gold production. We will also see an increase in demand for jewellery manufactured from recycled metals, as well as gemstones obtained from certified ethical sources.
